Life sized cadaver statue of René of Chalon. The nobleman’s deathbed wish was that his tomb be depicted as he would look after three years of decomposition. The raised hand is holding his dried heart. His tomb is in the Église Saint-Étienne in Bar-le-Duc, Meuse, France but his heart was stolen during the French Revolution. Statue by Ligier Richier.
